At Tongue Up Myofunctional Therapy, We turn messy habits into healthy ones - so you can breathe better, sleep deeper, and smile wider, with your tongue right where it belongs. We aim to re-train the muscles of the face, mouth, and throat, ensuring proper alignment and function.
Myofunctional therapy is like personal training for your mouth. Also called Orofacial Myology, it’s a gentle, non-invasive way to fix unhelpful oral habits. Through fun and targeted tongue and facial exercises—kind of like a workout for your smile—we retrain and strengthen the muscles for better function and balance.
It’s never too late to retrain your smile. Myofunctional therapy works at any age, helping you build healthy habits that last. From better breathing, chewing, and swallowing to improved sleep, mood, digestion, and even facial balance—you’ll feel the difference from head to toe!
We’re here to make healthy habits easy and fun! Our focus is teaching, guiding, and creating personalized plans that support both mouth and whole-body health. Every program is designed just for you, with myofunctional therapy that helps treat conditions such as:
At Tongue Up Myofunctional Therapy, our program is airway-focused and fully personalized. Through fun and practical exercises for the tongue and facial muscles—along with helpful habit changes—we work to improve chewing and swallowing, encourage proper tongue rest posture, and support healthy breathing.
Consistency is the secret to success! Just like learning a new skill, daily practice is needed until the muscles learn their new pattern. This journey takes teamwork—commitment from the patient, support from the family, and a little time.
Treatment begins with a detailed evaluation, followed by a customized plan tailored to each person’s needs. On average, therapy lasts 3–12 months with regular exercises, though timelines may vary depending on the individual.
We know that getting to an office isn’t always easy—that’s why we bring therapy to you! Our clinic doesn’t have a formal office space; instead, we offer specialized programs right in the comfort of your home or within your community. Whether it’s meeting at your house, school, or another convenient location, we make therapy accessible and stress-free. This way, you and your family can focus on building healthy habits without the extra travel or scheduling worries.
The cost per session usually falls between $80 and $180, based on the Alberta Dental Association fee guide. We don't directly bill insurance companies, but we’ll happily provide you with a receipt, complete with dental codes, so you can easily submit it to your insurer.
